Wellington based IT services provider Comsmart has rebranded as Optic Digital following the roll-up of six A/NZ security-focused companies last December.

The change was made to reflect the slightly different role Comsmart plays as part of that new Optic Security Group.

Locally, the roll-up saw Optic Security buy Auckland-based physical security company Fortlock, which had earlier acquired Comsmart, as well as Wellington-based Circuit Systems and Auckland's SSL.

The rebranded company will continue to provide IT and consulting services, said Matthew Evetts, general manager at Optic Digital.

“The change will help our customers, current and future, easily identify how we fit into the wider IT community, including the critical information security services we offer as part of the Optic Security Group.”

As a division of the Optic Security Group, Optic Digital will specialise in project and change delivery, and IT service delivery capability, including consulting, project management, business analysis, architecture, and engineering.

It also provides managed services, support, and service desk functionality; along with procurement services and expertise in a wide range of technologies from the likes of Microsoft, IBM, EMC, CISCO, Linksys, and McAfee.

It also provides IaaS and other cloud solutions – using both private and public clouds.

Jason Cherrington, Optic Security Group’s CEO, said the re-brand was a natural step towards the group’s goal of providing an end-to-end range of IT and physical and information security solutions.

“Since its acquisition in late 2018, Comsmart has provided the Optic Security Group with a strategic IT services capability, and I’m delighted that the team is now delivering an enhanced range of services as Optic Digital.”

Optic Digital’s new branding includes the by-line "Consult, Resource, IT", reflecting the company’s traditional service offerings while also "giving a nod to the future".

The new identity captured the company’s ability to provide consulting and professional IT services across a broad range of domains, including networking, engineering, management, architecture, analysis, development, testing, and cyber, it said in a company blog post.

Optic Digital has offices in Wellington and Auckland, and recently moved into new Wellington premises in Lambton Quay.

Optic Security Group is an independent, converged physical, IT and information security solutions provider in Australia and New Zealand.

The Group combined six physical security and IT professional service providers from both sides of the Tasman with 200 staff across 10 locations from Darwin to Christchurch and combined revenues in excess of $100 million.
