Microsoft launches Surface super warranty for Kiwi partners through Ingram Micro

Upgraded warranty will offer next business day Surface Pro and Laptop replacement

Ingram Micro has partnered with Microsoft to deliver Firebird in New Zealand, a new super warranty targeting commercial Surface Pro and Surface Laptop users.

Specifically, the optional extended warranty will provide a next business day (NBD) warranty replacement service for commercial Surface Pro and Surface Laptop users in the main centres and towns in both the North and South Islands.

Depending on location, some rural deliveries may take a little longer, but will still offer "significantly improved" delivery times.

“We are hugely excited about the partnership with Ingram in delivering an enhanced Surface support experience for our commercial customers,” Microsoft New Zealand partner development manager of Surface Riki Plester said.

“Ingram Micro’s local team has a fantastic reputation for operational excellence, and this new service model will ensure our joint Surface customers will have a world class support experience from a New Zealand partner.”

For Ingram Micro, the warranty represents a “logical extension” of the services the distributor already provides to resellers and their end-user business customers.

“Ingram Micro already has a strong offering for resellers providing pre-configuration and drop-ship delivery services, which frees up reseller resources and helps them to deliver a world class experience to their end user customers,” Ingram Micro New Zealand managing director Gary Bigwood added.

“This extended NBD warranty programme utilises our in-house expertise and systems to ensure that commercial users of Surface Laptop and Surface Pro devices experience minimal disruption in the unlikely event that they need to send their device in for warranty work.”

Bigwood said that where an extended warranty support call is received before noon, the aim will be to have despatched a replacement unit that afternoon.

In holding warranty stock at both Auckland and Christchurch distribution centres, replacement units for support calls received after mid-day will ship either later that afternoon or first thing the following morning.
