Grid operator Transpower is going tribal in its efforts to replace custom business applications and adopt agile methods.

The state-owned company is looking for a development and operations partner with experience of rapid IT development and service delivery for its newly formed information services and technology (IST) applications and integration DevOps tribe.

Experience with modern open source frameworks is required, including Linux, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Camel, opensource JavaScript frameworks, Java and more as well as Oracle and SQL Server.

Furthermore, API integration and customer-centric design are also required.

"We are looking to use agile and lean practices to both build and support this replacement using DevOps practices," a registration on interest (ROI) stated.

"The goal is to enhance the work done to date to become a dynamic, agile team that creates, operates and continually improves robust digital solutions which underpin Transpower's operations and enable innovation in our business."

The applications and integration tribe defines the reference architecture and implements capabilities that provide connectivity to services.

Specifically, it leverages core systems and provides a unifying user experience to enable continuous delivery of new systems.

"As the applications and integration tribe is relatively small, with a big pipeline of work, Transpower is looking for a DevOps partner that can become an integral part of the team," the ROI added,

Last year Transpower began shifting critical applications, including its SCADA sensor control system and market system, to an on-premise private cloud.
