Westcon-Comstor has been appointed as a distributor for Alibaba Cloud across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), providing an on-ramp for partners seeking Asian expansion.
The agreement - which spans the entirety of Asia Pacific - is designed to provide choice for the channel in the highly competitive cloud space, alongside offering a new route to regional markets for local partners.
“The addition of Alibaba Cloud provides us with a strong regional cloud vendor to support our Asia business, and provides a gateway into Asia for our Australia and New Zealand partners,” said Darryl Grauman, vice president of global cloud strategy at Westcon-Comstor.
“Partners and customers alike can ‘land’ in China, compliant with their sovereignty requirements.”
Terms of the deal will see the tech giant fall under the Cloud Customer Success Team (CCSC) at Westcon-Comstor, backed up by in-country experience across the region.
“We believe that the appointment as an Alibaba Cloud distributor in Asia Pacific will enable us to provide the cloud computing services our reseller’s require in this region,” Grauman added.
“This is by accelerating the cloud journey of their customers, and it sets us apart from other distributors in the region.”
Grauman said Westcon-Comstor will help Alibaba Cloud enhance its Asia Pacific channel business, maintaining market momentum through continued brand awareness.
Specifically, the distributor will also provide support for partner enablement, sales acceleration and technical accreditation on both sides of the Tasman.
“Alibaba Cloud’s strength in the Asia Pacific market makes it a logical choice for partners, particularly those who wish to expand into new markets in our region,” Grauman added.
In a market dominated by Amazon Web Services, alongside Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform and IBM Cloud, Alibaba Cloud ranks as a top five global cloud provider, with more than 2.3 million customers worldwide.
Currently, the vendor is supporting customers across A/NZ through two availability zones in Sydney.
