Google Cloud commits to Kiwi partners with Auckland channel hire

Spark veteran responsible for development of the Kiwi partner ecosystem for Google Cloud Platform

Google Cloud has acted on plans to build out a channel in New Zealand, through the appointment of Andrew Collins as partner success manager.

Based in Auckland, Collins is responsible for the development and success of the Kiwi partner ecosystem for the Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

“We Kiwis are a powerful bunch of innovators who achieve amazing things when we have the right tools,” wrote Collins, via social media.

“GCP leads the world in providing amazing compute, machine learning, IoT and progressive commercial models (plus much, much more) that help us Kiwis realise our ideas and fulfil our potential.”

Leveraging over 15 years experience in New Zealand, Collins held a number of management roles for Gen-i, and then Spark Digital, in both Wellington and Auckland markets, during more than 11 years with the telecommunications provider.

Collins joins the tech giant from Fresh Perspective Sales, were he previously held the role of sales strategy consultant.

Prior to this, Collins ran the technology channel for Leading Edge in New Zealand, while also heading up the infrastructure services team for IBM locally.

“I’m very excited and proud to be part of the Google team that is helping New Zealanders to be at the forefront of innovation - be it local or global,” added Collins, via social media.

The appointment comes three months after the vendor actively started seeking on-the-ground expertise specific to the Kiwi channel, as revealed by Reseller News.

Under the role of partner success manager, Collins will be tasked with driving Google Cloud business through the vendor’s expanding ecosystem of partners across the country.

Specifically, Collins will analyse partner business performance, identify methods of increasing partner and Google returns, as well as pitching ideas to and identifying opportunities within partner organisations.

Delving deeper, key responsibilities will include leveraging Google resources to drive partner recruitment in New Zealand, backed up by building a “long-term, scalable, channel model”.
