Gen2 continues to build credibility across the government space in New Zealand, through inclusion into the expanded Telecommunication-as-a-Service (TaaS) panel.
The Wellington-based business has been appointed as a new provider of managed security services, exposing the specialist start-up to more than 200 government agencies across the country.
Designed to create more technological choice for government agencies, the TaaS panel spans four service categories, including: communications, connectivity, contact centre and managed security.
TaaS is an open panel, designed to offer new suppliers the opportunity to join or enhance existing services in the future as the market and agency requirements evolve.

Founded in 2016, Gen2 operates as an independent consultancy firm, providing professional services to both private and government sectors.
Since entering the market, the advisory practice has built a business model based on bringing together niche players to provide a combined customer outcome.
In the context of technology, the business partners with Finao and ZX Security, alongside HR Plus and Rees-Thomas Law from a consultancy perspective.
Headed by Smith as CEO, Gen2 is made up of seasoned consultancy and security specialists, including Rob Hurst as principal consultant.
In addition, James Hall-Kennedy, Joe Murphy, Lloyd O’Connor and Oliver Lineham comprise the company’s security devision, while Mandy Smith, Stuart Byrne, Kate Kelly and Anna Ashton provide project delivery capabilities.

The TaaS appointment comes less than four months after the provider was selected as a new member of the all-of-government security and related services panel.
“Following on from our recent appointment to the all-of-government security and related services panel, our announcement provides further recognition of our innovative range of cloud security services,” Smith added.
Appointed in October 2017, the panel aims to ensure government agencies continually improve privacy and security standards in the context of digital transformation.
“Agencies today are operating in a security conscious environment,” DIA general manager, Chris Webb, said at the time.
“The new panel gives agencies greater flexibility in engaging with the security service provider community to help agencies better understand and reduce their risk profile.”
