Systems integrator Certus Solutions has launched a design thinking-led management consultancy powered by IBM's cloud services and dubbed Cognition.
Cognition’s app “garage” service has been spun out of its parent company to help clients integrate design thinking into the development of cognitive solutions.
Cognition will be use IBM’s cloud platform Bluemix, people-centred design and agile development methods, Certus said.
Cognition’s team will be led by managing partner Craig Parnham; formerly CEO of Sush Mobile, head of mobile products for Spark New Zealand and general manager of Telstra Digital.
"Cognition is a change agent, bringing together elements from technology, design and business to manifest a new reality," Parnham said.
"It is at the intersection of three unique and complementary disciplines that Cognition fulfils its purpose."
Cognition’s services span a range of industries and incorporate elements of IBM’s solution stack, including Bluemix and cognitive and artificial intelligence service Watson.
“We’re excited to work with strong IBM business partners like Certus who accelerate innovation with design thinking and new development methodologies,” said Shawn Murray, worldwide director of IBM Bluemix Garage.
The newly launched company is already working with a range of well-known brands, Certus said.
Google, IBM, Microsoft and AWS are all piling resources into the emerging AI and cognitive computing marketplace. Next week, IBM will host its Watson Summit conference in Auckland.
