NEC New Zealand has appointed Takashi Tada as its new managing director, responsible for leading the service provider’s expansion across the country.
Tada has close to 20 years of experience with NEC’s global business, where he has held several senior roles with management and strategic planning responsibilities in the company’s IT and telecommunications businesses.
NEC CEO Asia Pacific, Tetsuro Akagi, who concurrently held the managing director position for NEC New Zealand since June this year, has now relinquished his role.
“Given our new business models being devised and refined there, I am confident that Mr Tada will drive our innovation journey while strengthening our relationships with customers and partners,” he said.
Since starting out in sales at NEC Corporation’s first Asia Division, Tada has developed operational skills and honed management competence working primarily in the Greater China and Asia Pacific region with three global postings in the Philippines, Singapore, and most recently Australia.
Prior to this new appointment, Tada was General Manager of Corporate Strategy at NEC Australia since April 2015, where he was responsible for developing new businesses and leading strategic initiatives in the local market, as well as taking on roles in marketing and corporate functions.
“Over the last few years, our New Zealand operations have witnessed exciting local innovations and subsequent growth in new areas," he added.
"We have undergone a gradual shift in focus - we are transforming ourselves from a solely communications business into an innovative and integrated ICT solutions and services organisation that contributes to multiple areas of society and community."
