Exeed has joined forces with New Zealand company Controlc, offering Xero data back-up solutions to Kiwi resellers.

Controlc enables companies managing businesses with Xero accounting software to back up precious financial data, storing it locally in New Zealand.

According to the New Zealand owned and operated distributor, the Controlc backup solution also includes an app - backapp - allowing companies to view and search their ‘backed up’ data, extending Xero’s comprehensive service.

“The Controlc solution complements the Xero accounting package beautifully,” says Justin Tye, Managing Director, Exeed.

“Businesses can have peace of mind knowing their data is stored locally in New Zealand data centres, conveniently available to them 24/7, and they can easily supply their data to the New Zealand IRD if ever required.”

Tye says the Controlc/backapp solution is Windows and Apple compatible, with backups automated and running once every 24 hours - “stored indefinitely” at New Zealand data centres.

“Several formats are available and once downloaded from the local NZ Data Centre, can be viewed and searched offline and converted into versatile reports when required,” Tye explains.

“It’s not just for peace of mind, knowing your data is backed up in New Zealand, but you can potentially use the data more effectively to manage your business.”

For Tye, the opportunity for resellers is twofold.

“Firstly, the versatility of the solution means that most companies using Xero will find this a handy addition to the investment they have made in their accounting platform,” Tye adds.

“Controlc is incredibly cost effective and easy to use so almost all customers on Xero will want it.

“Secondly, for resellers who service accounting firms, there is an opportunity to sell this solution into multiple businesses in one conversation.

“Of course annuity is attached to Controlc and given the size of the Xero installed base, the prospect for annuities is substantial.”

Controlc Limited, a 100 percent New Zealand owned and operated software development company, had been in the back of founder, Campbell Green’s mind since 2009.

With over eight years of experience in starting up and running a successful online data backup and disaster recovery service, he was mindful of his company’s financial records being held in “the cloud”.

Hence the idea to localise Xero’s cloud data was born. By 2013, he had developed the core products, had a team around him and Controlc Limited was in business.

“We are delighted to be able to partner with such an innovator as Exeed,” Green adds.

“They offer their customers technology from some of the world’s most respected and innovative companies and are always ensuring they get the best. They are committed to helping their resellers grow their businesses in the best ways they see fit.”
