Dave Rosenberg - VP of A/NZ, Westcon-Comstor and Reseller News Hall of Famer
Westcon-Comstor, a distributor brand, is expanding its local leadership team with the appointment of two new key roles across Australia and New Zealand.
To address growing demand across its Comstor brand within the organisation, and the rise of Cloud adoption on both sides of the Tasman, the distributor has hired James Mackay as Comstor A/NZ Business Unit Manager and Rhys Shannon as Director of Services and Cloud, A/NZ.
Mackay’s appointment - a Cisco Systems expert - follows the company’s plans to offer the entire Cisco portfolio under its Comstor brand, as reported by Reseller News in July 2015.
With over 14 years of experience within the Cisco space, Mackay begins his new role on January 11, 2016 and will be based in the company’s Sydney office.
During this period, Mackay was selected as a member of Cisco’s Global Marketing Forum as a result of his extensive experience in building and executing robust marketing plans, and will report directly to Westcon-Comstor’s A/NZ Vendor Alliance Director, with responsibility to ensure alignment to the vendor strategy and develop the relationship with Cisco.

“His extensive experience in product management, marketing, distribution strategy, inventory management, and customer service particularly around Cisco make him the ideal person for building our Comstor Business unit in Australia.
“James will lead the Comstor trans-Tasman team to deliver consistency and predictability in our programs and offerings. This appointment is key to Comstor’s aim to be Cisco’s largest dedicated distributor.”
In a further bid to bolster the teams local ranks, Shannon will start his role on January 18, 2016, and will also be based in Sydney.
Rosenberg says Shannon’s “extensive experience” encompasses channel sales, marketing, IT management, and technology strategy, joining the company from his previous role as Senior vice president at Netfira, an innovator in B2B commerce.
Shannon is returning to Westcon-Comstor where he previously spent 10 years in various management roles including enterprise project management and mergers and acquisitions, and APAC chief technology officer.
